With Lance Lynn on the way but not quite in the Bronx yet, the Yankees have selected the contract of lefty Ryan Bollinger from Double-A Trenton to serve as the longman out of the bullpen. He will wear No. 48.
This is the second stint for the well-traveled left in the big leagues, as he spent a day with the team May 23 during the disastrous series with Texas. In 14 minor-league starts, all but two with Double-A Trenton, he has a 5-5 record and 4.76 ERA.
Bollinger has one of the most interesting stories of anyone in the big leagues, having pitched in Canada, Germany and Australia before landing back in the United States with the Yankees. He was a 47th round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009, and pitched in the Chicago White Sox system from 2011 to 2013.
